Hey, I'm Jonah.
I have worked in the fine art editions world for a number of years, and I previously studied painting before stepping away from my practice when it no longer felt right. My ADHD always made painting feel too slow and drawn out, and fine art photography never captured me either. Scanning feels like the right pace. It lets me record the world as I move through it, moment by moment, without having to stop and stage it.
Totes Art is my return to making — a way to make art that feels immediate, restless, and alive again. It is a travelling project documenting the world one scan at a time. Using a portable scanner instead of a camera, I collect fragments: textures, tickets, surfaces, and scraps, the granular evidence of movement through place.
I have always looked for ways to make art, which is often a stationary act, enable movement without losing its integrity. Totes Art is an experiment — affordable art made in motion.
